Delson "Pe de Chumbo" Heleno has recently agreed to defend the welterweight (170 lbs.) World Fighting Organization World Title at the Art of Fighting 9: Apocalypse event on September 4. The promotions ninth event will take place at the Veterans Memorial Arena in the heart of Jacksonville, Florida.
Heleno will be facing the ever dangerous Jason High. "The Kansas City Bandit", Jason High, has recently fought in Affliction, Dream and the UFC. Jason has beaten top level opponents and will be another tough match up for the world champion. "Delson has been dominating opponents in AOF, tough guys like Tyler Stinson can't hang on the ground with Pe de Chumbo" quotes AOF matchmaker Nicholas Smith.
Delson won the title at AOF 6 in Ft Myers where he took a very durable Levon Maynard into the third round. Heleno's ground skills eventually were too much for Maynard as he ended the fight in the third round via a TKO from strikes. "Most of Delson's fights took place at 185 lbs. in the IFL, I am very comfortable putting him up against anyone at welterweight, I believe he is a top ranked fighter, well beyond his current rankings and I am looking forward to the title defense" says AOF promoter Nathan Smith. Delson's current record is 18-5 with wins over top AOF welterweights Tyler Stinson and Levon Maynard.
