Art of Fighting Holds Open Fighter tryout for September 4 Fight Card in Jacksonville
September 4, 2010 will mark the Art of Fighting's first endeavor into the vibrant Jacksonville, FL fight market. Art of Fighting 9: Apocalypse will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Arena in the heart of downtown. The event is also the first professional mixed martial arts show to be held at the Veteran's arena.
Art of Fighting will be holding an Open Fighter Tryout on July 3 to get to know the local fight community and possibly snag the next star to appear on the AOF 9 fight card. The tryouts will take place at Combat Athletix in Orange Park. Fighters will be brought through a myriad of training including kickboxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, and personal interviews. The tryout is open to the public and begins at 1pm. Fighters must be at least 18 years of age and must bring proper training equipment.
The Art of Fighting 9 fight card will be the best collection of fighters to ever appear in Jacksonville. The main event will be a world title bout between veteran welterweights Delson "Pe de Chumbo" Heleno and Jason "The Kansas City Bandit" High. The fight card will also feature local Jacksonville fighters including James Smiley, Terry Blackburn, Angelica Brotherton, Jamie Harrison and many more. Doors open at 5pm on September 4 at the Veterans Arena, with the first fighter to enter the cage around 6:15pm.
